New halting site in Carrickmines

Dun-Laoghaire Rathdown County Council has been given the go-ahead to build a new permanent halting site for the survivors of the Carrickmines fire.

It has been just over eight months since a fire swept through an unofficial halting site in Carrickmines, killing 10 members of the same family, five of them children, on October 10, 2015.

Since then, council officials from Dun Laoghaire Rathdown searched for a permanent site on the Glenamuck Rd for the survivors.
