Hospital managers could lose budget control warns Paschal Donohoe

Hospital managers who fail to control their budgets will lose that responsibility, Public Expenditure Minister Paschal Donohoe has warned.

Mr Donohoe, who recently approved a health-funding increase of €500m, says this comes with responsibility and he warned that under new European funding rules, traditional end-of-year bailouts for health are no longer possible.

He said hospitals must stay within budget.
