Thousands expected at ‘Super’ Cork Summer Show

One of the country’s largest agricultural shows, the annual event takes place at the Munster Agricultural Society Showgrounds in Curraheen on the western side of Cork City.

As well as showjumping, dressage and ponyriding, cattle and sheep breeding and all the usual agricultural show activities, the show has a number of unique events this year promising fun for all the family.

Some of these include:

1. Welly Throwing

All shoe sizes are welcome and it is not essential to bring your own welly as a fine array of Field of Dreams Cork Wellies will be on hand. All proceeds will go to Field of Dreams, Down Syndrome Cork.

2. Tug of War

The National Tug-o-War Championships take place on Sunday. Although an old sport, it has seen a huge revival in recent years, with Irish tug of war teams having success at the European Championships last year.
