Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Fine Gael are rolling out a “be nice” strategy so they can shake off an arrogant image and prolong the party’s stay in office.

With most TDs and commentators giving the minority Government no more than 18 months, Mr Kenny and his senior team have noticeably attempted to portray a softer side in recent weeks.

One senior source likened the plan to Ryanair’s “nicer image” policy in 2014 which saw the airline significantly soften its policies in terms of passenger relations.
