Man, 79, died after falling on church steps in Spain
Michael Boyce, aged 79, of Southville Gardens, Ballinacurra, Limerick, had just arrived in Torremolinos with his wife, Alicia.
He left their apartment to find the nearest church and get Mass times.
It is believed he was walking on the marble steps of the church when he slipped and banged his head.
Mr Boyce never regained consciousness after the fall and members of his family flew out to Spain and were at his hospital bedside when he passed away last Thursday. His funeral takes place today.
A native of Scarriff, County Clare, Mr Boyce was president of the Irish Handball Association from 1975 to 1978.
The GAA website stated: āIt is with deep sadness and regret that GAA Handball learned of the passing of Michael Boyce.ā
