Garda faces extra charges including cocaine possession

Garda Jimell Henry, aged 34, of Cairns Hill, Sligo, who is now facing 15 charges, including one of possession of cocaine, has been remanded on continuing bail until June 23, when she will be served with the Book of Evidence.

Det Inspector Jim Delaney told Sligo District Court that when he put further charges to the defendant before yesterday’s court sitting she responded “no reply” to each count.

The garda was charged yesterday under the Data Protection Act with seven counts of obtaining personal data and information and disclosing it to another without the proper authority at locations in Dublin and Mullingar in 2014 and 2015.

At a previous court sitting, Ms Henry was remanded on seven counts of disclosing information, obtained in the course of her duties, knowing that the disclosure was likely to have a harmful effect.

Ms Henry is also charged with possession of cocaine at Tullynagracken North, in Sligo, on January 16, 2015.

She was ordered to surrender her passport, to remain in the jurisdiction, and not to interfere with any known witness. She was also told to sign on weekly at Sligo Garda Station.
