Man killed in sixth gangland shooting in 7 months
The victim, named locally as Michael Barr, aged in his mid 30s, from Finglas, was fatally injured at Sunset House pub in the Ballybough area of Dublin.
Barr was associated with the Hutch gang and is understood to have provided logistical support to one of the gunmen who carried out the Regency Hotel attack on February 4 which resulted in the murder of Kinahan lieutenant David Byrne from Crumlin, South Dublin.
It is the sixth murder in the Kinahan-Hutch feud, one in Spain last September and five in Dublin since Febuary.
Eddie Hutch, a brother of the Monk, was murdered in revenge three days after the Regency Hotel attack. The other victims include Gary Hutch last September, Noel Duggan and Martin
O’Rourke, the latter in a case of mistaken identity.
Five of the hits are believed to have been carried out by the Kinahan cartel.
Fine Gael Dublin North West TD Noel Rock tweeted last night that a car had been dumped in Drumcondra. He said he hoped recently installed CCTV in the area may prove helpful to gardaí.
“The car, which was dumped at the foot of Walsh Road, yards from my home, is in an area which is currently covered by temporary CCTV which was erected in recent days by coincidence. I trust gardaí will seek this footage as soon as possible from Dublin City Council.”
