Anti-water charge campaigners will protest outside the Fianna Fáil leader’s constituency office today in the first of a series of protests designed to hold politicians to account on their pre-election promises.

The Cork Community Groups movement — which comprises anti-water charge groups from across the city and county — said they have been monitoring the various negotiations around the formation of a new government. But spokesman Keith O’Brien said they are not impressed with the “horse-trading”.

“It seems to be more of the same. A lot of people seem to be rowing back on what they said before the election. We are going to hold them to account.” He urged people who believe water is a human right to join their first protest today at Micheál Martin’s constituency office in Turner’s Cross at 12 noon.
