Former Anglo Irish Bank chief executive David Drumm walked out of a Dublin court smiling yesterday after he was released on bail pending his fraud trial.

The banker, who was extradited from the US, was freed after he spent five months in custody in American jails and one night at Cloverhill Prison in Dublin. He faces trial over serious financial irregularities at the now defunct Anglo Irish Bank.

He blew a kiss to supporters in the public gallery of Dublin District Court when his next hearing date was set.
