A senior Fianna Fáil TD is confident his party can gain the support of 20 Independents and members of smaller groups and lead a minority government.

Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil are to ramp-up their talks with Independents, and smaller parties, this week, as the pressure to form a government intensifies.

They are scrambling to get the support of other parties and Independents, before the next crucial date, of April 6, when TDs meet again in Leinster House.
