A Limerick mother has lost her eldest and youngest children in road traffic crashes — 13 years apart.

Shane Mulcahy, 35, a single man from Herbertstown, died when his car went off the road about two miles from the village. His sister Naomi, aged 16, died 13 years ago in a car crash that also claimed the lives of two other teenagers.

Two other siblings, Aoife and Richard, were travelling home from London and Australia yesterday to be with their mother. Their father John died a few years before Naomi’s death.
