Gang members believed to be behind spate of car thefts arrested in Cork

Several members of a Cork City-based gang believed to be responsible for a spate of car thefts across the city in recent months have been arrested.

The three young men were arrested and detained in Fermoy in North Cork at the weekend while travelling in a car which had been stolen in a city suburb earlier.

The news emerged at a meeting of the Cork City joint policing committee (JPC) yesterday, which heard the reported incidents of criminal damage, public order, property crime, and crimes against the person in the Cork City Garda division have all declined in the last three months, compared to the same period last year.
