A West Cork town is expecting to get some good news on the jobs front next year after Cork County Council was asked to rezone a site for a factory.

Members of the county council’s planning policy committee have been told by senior local authority officials that they have been asked by the IDA (Industrial Development Authority) to rezone land for industrial purposes in Skibbereen.

The deputy mayor of Co Cork, Skibbereen-based Fianna Fáil councillor Joe Carroll, said he attended the recent planning policy meeting and heard council officials say they had been asked to rezone the land, which the IDA owns, at Poundlick for industrial purposes.
