EU citizens are allowed to live, work, and start a business in any other member state — but getting started can be a big and costly problem.

One of those problems has now been effectively removed by justice ministers who have agreed on a fast and cheap way of countries recognising the basic documents of people’s lives.

Up to now, having birth, marriage, divorce, death, and residence documents recognised in another country meant having them certified and translated.
