A sailing instructor whose wedding ring finger was amputated in an accident as she helped tow a dinghy has settled her High Court action against her sailing club.

Accomplished musician Hannah Fitzsimons told the High Court yesterday she has had to give up plans to be a music teacher and she can no longer play the piano and flute after the accident four years ago when she was a sailing instructor with Sutton Dinghy Club.

The woman, who was aged 19 years at the time of the accident, told Mr Justice Kevin Cross she now wears a prosthetic finger when going out, as she is embarrassed.
