A 25-year-old man charged with murdering his mother at the family home in Montenotte, Cork City, last week was not brought from prison to Cork District Court, yesterday as he was deemed not fit to attend.

When the case against Paul Horgan was called, a court clerk indicated to Judge Con O’Leary that there was a letter to the court from Cloverhill Prison in respect of the accused.

Judge O’Leary noted that the accused was being psychiatrically assessed and was not fit to be brought from prison to Cork District Court.
