Thanks to the Irish diaspora, Ireland has emerged from the financial crisis stronger, but sustaining economic recovery cannot be taken for granted, Enda Kenny yesterday told a gathering of the Irish business diaspora.

Addressing about 200 invited guests at the Global Irish Economic Forum in Dublin Castle, the fourth meeting since it first convened in 2009, Mr Kenny said that the economic crash had helped forge stronger links with the Irish abroad.

Though still needing nurturing, the economy was now “in a different place” having been assisted by the diaspora who had rallied around at the time of need.
