Daughter of Bill O’Herlihy slams thieves who stole from his wife as she visited grave

The daughter of sports presenter Bill O’Herlihy has slammed robbers who stole money from his widow while she was visiting his grave.

Jill O’Herlihy took to Twitter last night to post: “250 cash was stolen from my Mums purse in her car whilst visiting Dads grave. I’m livid that she has to go through this.”

Mr O’Herlihy was laid to rest in Shanganagh Cemetery in Shankill, Co Dublin, in May.

Ms O’Herlihy’s tweet was quickly responded to by her followers, with people expressing shock and anger.

“So sorry to hear what happened to your Mum!,” wrote one.

“What is this country coming to, an absolute scandal.”

Another commented: “That is disgraceful. What kind of scumbags target cars at graveyards?!.”

Thefts from mourners at graveyards are not uncommon.

In August, thieves stole two handbags from the boot of a woman’s car while she and her daughter visited a grave in Naas.

Items left at gravesides have also been stolen, such as ceramic pots and other ornaments.
