Abbey Theatre to host ‘Waking the Feminists’ debate after equality row

The Abbey Theatre has announced it will hold a ‘Waking the Feminists’ debate on Thursday after acknowledging that its programme of events for early 2016 “does not represent gender equality”.

The event comes after growing criticism of the national theatre and a huge social media response under the hashtag #WakingTheFeminists following the announcement last week of the Abbey’s programme for the early part of 2015, ‘Waking The Nation’.
