A Mayo man was on crystal meth when he carried out a frenzied and unprovoked attack  on Dublin GAA star Jonny Cooper  hours after attacking a taxi driver.

One man was summonsed four times for speeding on the same stretch of road in a speed camera zone in Co Kerry  in April and some of the summonses were for consecutive days, a court heard yesterday.

Almost 3,500 people are in emergency accommodation  in the Dublin area,   according to the latest figures.

The Web Summit is entering its second day and despite the thousands of delegates and dozens of prestigious speakers,  the controversies just won’t go away.

A 22-year-old woman has been stoned to death in Afghanistan by a group of men identified as Taliban insurgents after she was accused of adultery, an official said.

Comedian Robin Williams had been planning to undergo neurological testing the week before he took his own life last year,  and likely only had three years to live, his widow said.
