Judges claim €1m in expenses in six months

The State funded more than €27,000 spent on wigs and gowns and other incidentals for the judiciary during the first six months of this year.

Figures provided by the Courts Service show that the amount the State’s judges have incurred in expenses between January and June totalled just under €1m.

The level of expenses claimed by judges in the first half of this year indicates that the expense bill will trump the €1.73m claimed last year.
