The Central Criminal Court in Tralee heard yesterday how the body of a Brazilian man found in a bog drain in north Kerry in 2012 had 64 stab wounds, along with multiple bruises and lacerations.

The body of 28-year-old Bruno Lemes de Souza was removed from Shronowen Bog on March 11, 2012, some weeks after he had left his home in Gort, Co Galway where a large community of Brazilian people live, the trial has been told.

John Paul Cawley, now aged 22, of Ardoughter, Ballyduff, Co Kerry denies the murder of Mr de Souza at Shronowen Bog on February 16 or February 17, 2012.
