Three counties in the SouthEast have submitted their joint bid for the European Capital of Culture title for 2020.

The “Three Sisters” of Waterford, Wexford, and Kilkenny have put together one of four Irish applications to be named capital of culture in 2020. An adjuducation process will determine which city or region will go forward to the European shortlisting stage next month.

The Mayor of Waterford, John Cummins; the Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Mary Hilda Cavanagh; and the Cathaoirleach of Wexford County Council Tony Dempsey gathered at the weekend to f0rmally submit the Three Sisters European Capital of Culture 2020 “bid book”.
