Boatmen told to give Skellig ‘wide berth’ for Star Wars shoot

A marine notice issued yesterday by the Department of Transport said the shoot was due to take place between 5am this Monday and 7pm on Friday, although the instruction appears to fall short of the exclusion zone set up during filming on the island in summer 2014.

According to marine notice no. 44 of 2015: “Vessels are requested to give the island a wide berth during these activities. Vessel masters and skippers are reminded to comply with the requirements of the International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea at all times.”

It had been widely expected that filming would take place this coming week.
