A 24-year-old Tralee man called an ambulance to the Square in Listowel town centre so he and his drunken friend could get a lift back home, Listowel District Court was told.

Patrick McInerney, with an address at Ballyrickard, Tralee, pleaded guilty to two charges under the Public Order Act of abusive behaviour and failing to comply with a garda on April 21 last.

However his legal representative, barrister Richard Liston disputed that the call — made shortly before midnight on April 21 last — was for a lift home.
