TD Sean Conlan gives statement over pub fracas

Cavan-Monaghan TD Sean Conlan has told gardaí he was not the perpetrator but rather the victim of an assault in pub which is leased out by his family.

The Fine Gael TD issued a statement yesterday after being questioned by gardaí in Castleblayney about an alleged assault which took place at Conlon’s pub in Ballybay on August 23. At around 8pm a man in his 20s claimed he was assaulted and received minor injuries. He did not require hospital treatment.

Mr Conlon, who in his 40s, said he was assaulted by a man who was verbally abusive toward him.
