TD Sean Conlan gives statement over pub fracas
The Fine Gael TD issued a statement yesterday after being questioned by gardaí in Castleblayney about an alleged assault which took place at Conlon’s pub in Ballybay on August 23. At around 8pm a man in his 20s claimed he was assaulted and received minor injuries. He did not require hospital treatment.
Mr Conlon, who in his 40s, said he was assaulted by a man who was verbally abusive toward him.
The TD, who joined the Dáil for the first time after the last general election, said that he voluntarily went to Castleblayney Garda Station yesterday morning to make a statement to gardaí.
The Fine Gael press office later issued a statement to the media on the TD’s behalf.
“I attended the Garda station in Castleblayney voluntarily to give my statement of complaint to the gardaí about the assault which was perpetrated on me in my family pub last Sunday (week).”
Mr Conlon said he fully co-operated with the gardaí and wouldn’t be making any further comment.
