Taoiseach urged to publish Fennelly report

Fianna Fáil has called on Taoiseach Enda Kenny to immediately publish the long-awaited independent investigation into the controversial departure of ex-garda commissioner Martin Callinan due to the “serious nature of the issues involved”.

The opposition party’s justice spokesman Niall Collins made the call after it emerged Mr Kenny will receive a completed copy of the document on Monday, potentially opening up a fresh crisis for the Coalition.

The long-awaited interim report of the Fennelly commission was launched last year after claims the Taoiseach effectively sacked Mr Callinan during the penalty points and Garda station phone tapping scandals.
