Man dies after meeting intruders

A priest who administered last rites on a man who collapsed and died outside his Co Limerick home after being confronted by intruders, has described the 62-year-old as a “thorough gentleman”.

Gardaí received a call shortly after 1.30pm yesterday and found the man at the side of the driveway of his house in Toomaline on the outskirts of Doon in Co Limerick.

It’s understood he had just returned home with his sister when they were confronted by intruders. The man collapsed and died. Parish priest Tony Ryan was called to the scene.
