The mother of a young man who stabbed his twin brothers more than 40 times before taking his own life has made an emotional plea to people experiencing mental health difficulties to seek help. Helen O’Driscoll had been speaking at the triple inquest yesterday into the deaths of three of her five sons.
The family of Jason Corbett, who was killed in America, will find out today if they can bring his children home. His two children, whose mother passed away in 2006, have been placed in the care of their aunt in the last 48 hours - they had been under the responsibility of Mr Corbett’s second wife up until now. A US court will decide on their custody officially today.
Tributes are pouring in for Irish sports broadcasting legend Johnny Lyons. The 98FM Sports Editor died suddenly and peacefully at his home in Dublin yesterday. Johnny was known for his unique presenting style and had a deep knowledge and love of sport.
Elsewhere, a father of seven has revealed the lengths he has had to go to in order to have his family car insured, and said he felt discriminated against because of his family size. Liam Coleman feared his family would be left without the use of the vehicle after a number of companies declined to offer him a quote.
