TV3 to broadcast second series of ‘Cork Mega Port’

The successful fly-on-the-wall TV series following the daily life at the Port of Cork is set to return to our screens for a second series.

TV3 to broadcast second series of ‘Cork Mega Port’

TV3 has commissioned four new programmes in the Cork Mega Port series which will begin broadcast this weekend. Produced by Goldhawk Media, the first series last year provided viewers with a remarkable insight into the day-to-day operations of the port during the winter months.

The second series will focus on the Port of Cork during its busiest spring and summer months, from bringing dozens of 140,000 tonne luxury cruise ships into the harbour, to the hugely successful Dragon boat race from lower harbour towns in to the heart of the city.

Viewers will see a lot of familiar faces behind the port’s operations, from pilots to launch crew, maintenance and engineering staff.

The producers said the new series will give an exciting insight not just into the everyday operations of the Port and the people who run it, but it will also highlight the Port’s importance to the region.

Port of Cork chief executive Brendan Keating said the response to the first series was overwhelming: “We heard so many positive comments both about our own people and the insight that viewers gained into the operations of our Port.

“We were delighted to work with Goldhawk media once again” he said.

Cork Mega Port will air on TV3 at 5.15pm this Sunday, with the other programmes due to air on Sundays, August 30 at 5.10pm, September 6 and 13 at 6.15pm.
