Trade skill for room and board when travelling abroad
Youghal-based Go Cambio.com is a free web service that puts travellers in contact with host recipients abroad, enabling both parties to negotiate exchange agreements.
Typically, a traveller registers and provides a self-profile, including talents or skills they have to trade. Host families and individuals do likewise. The parties use the site to source the location and services they require and negotiate the terms and conditions. The site does not participate in negotiations, but urges participants to communicate soon after contact on skype.
The company was established last March by Ardmore man Ian O’Sullivan and his sister Deirdre Bounds, who lives in Yorkshire. The pair previously ran a conservation and TEFL service, called i-to-i.
Go Cambio (Spanish for ‘exchange’) operates from rented offices at the Youghal Enterprise Centre. The Cork Enterprise Office, whose 18 offices and four studios are occupied, assists with funding.
