Gardaí question man after mother, daughter stabbed

Gardaí are questioning a man after a mother and her teenage daughter were stabbed during a violent domestic incident yesterday.

It is understood that the mother, who is in her 40s, suffered serious stab wounds to her neck, and that her daughter suffered stab wounds to a hand when she tried to stop the attack on her mother during the incident in Cobh, Co Cork.

The alarm was raised just before 11am after the incident unfolded in a house on Cooline Avenue, in the Ballyvoloon area of the town.
