Beacon worker in RTÉ report resigns

Noel Bergin, a supply chain co-ordinator at Beacon Hospital, was reported to have accepted a two-week holiday in Florida from medical supplies company Eurosurgical. It was also reported that the cost of this holiday was later reimbursed.

The Beacon yesterday confirmed that Mr Bergin had resigned.

“The hospital can confirm that Mr Noel Bergin has resigned his employment at the hospital as of July 21, 2015,” it said in a statement.

“Beacon Hospital continues to investigate the issues raised in the RTÉ Prime Time programme aired on July 16, 2015.”

The hospital said it had also appointed “an external, independent consultant” to conduct an internal audit of the hospital’s procurement policies and procedures, but declined to comment further.
