Tributes as former RTÉ presenter Ó Murchú dies, aged 86

Former RTÉ broadcaster and author Liam Ó Murchú has died at the age of 86.

Born in Cork, Mr Ó Murchú was a student in UCC, going on to be a law advisor to Sean MacEntee and Charles Haughey, before joining RTÉ in 1964.

He took up the role of editor of Irish-language programmes, but also acted as assistant controller of programmes and assistant director general.
