Despite protestations by some public representatives, county council management in Kerry has declined to reveal details of settlement of a major cost overrun on two bypass roads.

Chief executive Moira Murrell said a recommendation from a conciliator, engaged to resolve overrun issues on the Tralee and Castleisland bypasses, had been accepted by both the county council and the main contractor, BAM Civil.

She said the outcome was “both binding and confidential at this time”.
