An Irish nun was rescued after spending three nights stuck in a lift in Rome.

The 58-year-old Irish woman and a 68-year-old New Zealand nun became stuck on Friday when the elevator stopped suddenly while taking them to the bottom floor.

It appears the lift became stuck after an electrical power failure.
