Judge gives paedophile a chance

A judge was prepared to give a convicted paedophile a chance after being told he had not committed any sexual offences since his imprisonment more than 20 years ago.

It is one of a number of reports just published by the Child Care Reporting Project and involved a case where an application for a care order for a very young child was refused.

The child’s father had been jailed in another country as a teenager 23 years ago for sex offences with a child but had not offended since.
