Gardaí believe the gunman behind the gangland murder of Alan O’Neill shot him three times outside his house and then chased him to the front door and fired a fourth shot as the 35-year-old entered the hallway.

Officers believe the shooter narrowly escaped being caught minutes later when two of his accomplices were arrested by gardaí at the location where they had set fire to a getaway car.

The attack on Mr O’Neill happened after he stepped out from his home on Kiltalown Rd, Jobstown, Tallaght, west Dublin, at around 10.30pm on Wednesday.
