Twomey Remorial Weekend: Runners get high in Meelin while cyclists race to Rockchapel

There’s an opportunity for all to take part with young hurlers battling it out for the ‘Connie Twomey Memorial Cup’ on Saturday morning.
Runners and walkers will then compete in a unique four mile race in Ireland’s highest village, Meelin, in the afternoon, followed by a table quiz that evening.

On Sunday there will be 55k and 110k cycles, which will start and finish in Rockchapel.
A GAA match will close the weekend.
The Remorial takes place each year as a tribute to Elber Twomey’s husband Con, their little boy Oisín and unborn daughter Elber Marie — who died as a result of the crash in Devon, England in July 2012.
Elber is now a road safety campaigner and has raised thousands of euro for suicide support charities.
Proceeds from the weekend go to Brú Columbanus Cork, Pieta House, 3TS, Reach Out Ireland and Suicide Aware Cork.
