Hungarian found guilty of fraud

Hungarians hoping to get jobs in an apple-processing factory in Ireland were duped by a fellow national living in Cork into paying €156 each on the pretext that this would cover their flights and accommodation to come over to be interviewed.

Zoltan Huba Henn, aged 41, of The Mews, Classis Lake, Ovens, Co Cork, pleaded guilty yesterday to operating a computer with the intention of making a gain for himself in contravention of theft legislation. The crime was committed between August 30 and September 18, 2013

Emmet Boyle, defending, said Henn had gathered the full amount of compensation for the fraud, which came to about €2,000, and brought that amount in cash to Cork District Court yesterday.
