The detective, who is heading up the investigation into the murder of Cork nurse Karen Buckley, has thanked the Irish public for the support they have shown.

An open letter from Detective Superintendent Jim Kerr is to be issued by Police Scotland today that will recognise the appreciation the force has received from the Irish people over the past month.

Ms Buckley, a qualified nurse, went missing following a night out at the Sanctuary nightclub in Glasgow’s West End in the early hours of April 12.
