Gardaí are likely to issue court summonses to United Left TD Joan Collins and party councillor Pat Dunne in relation to a water meter protest in Crumlin, south Dublin.

They were among 13 people arrested by gardaí, who were called to deal with a group of 10 protesters preventing Irish Water workers from installing a meter outside a house on Parnell Rd.

Garda sources said two people were inside railings marking off the location of the intended meter.
