Doctor on trial for sexual assault of teenage patient

A doctor is on trial on two charges of sexually assaulting a teenaged patient back in the mid-1990s and in cross-examination the complainant was challenged that she was once so delusional she believed she was pregnant with the baby Jesus.

Kevin Mulcahy, aged 57, of Cregane, Lombardstown, Mallow, Co Cork, pleaded not guilty at Cork Circuit Criminal Court to charges of sexually assaulting her at his surgery when she was aged 17/18. She is now in her 30s.

His trial commenced yesterday before Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin and a jury of five women and seven men.
