Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has lashed out at colleagues “sniping from the bushes”, a reference to claims from Eamon Ó Cuív about the party facing demise.

His criticism came during the party’s parliamentary meeting of TDs and senators yesterday, and just three weeks away from the organisation’s set-piece ard fheis.

While the behind-closed-doors discussion was focused mainly on upcoming policy issues on mortgage interest rates and energy, a number of Oireachtas members were also keen to raise continuing concerns over stagnating public support.
