One of the world’s leading medical technology companies is expected to announce the creation of hundreds of jobs with a multi-million euro investment in a new global centre of excellence in Co Cork.

The Stryker Corporation is expected to make a formal announcement of its plans this week to build the new facility at Carrigtwohill, east Cork.

The company was founded by Michigan-based orthopaedic surgeon Dr Homer Stryker in 1941 and employs more than 25,000 people worldwide, with around 1,200 of them work in three plants in Ireland.
