A drugs mule, caught sitting on a bar stool with a rucksack full of drugs beside him, has been sentenced to five years in prison with the final two years suspended with conditions attached.

Cork City native David Coutts, aged 43, with a former address in Leas na Mara, Ballymoneen Rd, Knocknacarra, Galway, appeared before Galway Circuit Criminal Court where he pleaded guilty to having almost €13,000 worth in total of cannabis, amphetamines, and ecstasy for sale or supply to others at Woodquay on April 23, 2012.

Det Sgt Paudie O’Shea gave evidence he saw the accused sitting on a stool at the end of the bar with a rucksack on a stool beside him.
