A no result in the marriage equality referendum would send out a “bad message internationally” to those who want to come and work in Ireland, the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs has said.

Speaking in Limerick at the Young Fine Gael National Conference, James Reilly said it was important that marriage equality was enshrined in the Constitution.

A no result on May 22, he said, would show Irish people as “less tolerant than we should be”.
