Tributes have been paid to former Labour Party stalwart Frank Prendergast who died on Thursday, aged 81.

Mr Prendergast won a Dáil seat in 1982 and was a life-long trade union activist.

Education Minister Jan O’Sullivan said Mr Prendergast was a passionate supporter of his native Limerick and a renowned promoter of the Irish language.
