POA want an external inquiry on Brockwell escape
The Prison Officers Association met with the Irish Prison Service director general, Michael Donnellan, yesterday to discuss Tuesday’s escape, when Brockwell stabbed two prison guards who had escorted him from Portlaoise prison to Tallaght Hospital.
Jim Mitchell, deputy general secretary of the Prison Officers Association, said they are requesting an external investigation be carried out into Brockwell’s escape and a review of procedures in light of the incident.
