Brockwell Tasered outside pub in Belfast as manhunt ends

He was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. Garda sources said it was not yet clear what would happen next as Brockwell is also wanted in Britain. He was serving a life sentence there for 11 armed robberies and firearms offences when he escaped while on day release in 2012, before fleeing to Ireland. It is thought Garda HQ will now liaise with the PSNI.

Earlier it emerged that four requests for armed garda protection for Brockwell were previously made to gardaí — but were denied each time.
